Between the Equator and the Arctic Circle [in the Northern Hemisphere is another imaginary line.

This is called the Tropic of Cancer.
Between the Equator and the Antarctic Circle [in the Southern Hemisphere] is another imaginary line.

This is called the Tropic of Capricorn.
So all together we have :

2 Tropics
2 Poles
2 Circles
and
1 Equator.
As the Earth is a sphere
the rays of the Sun hit the Earth's surface unevenly.

Therefore the light and heat from the Sun is also spread unevenly.
This animation shows how during the year the Sun's direct light and heat moves from the Tropic of Cancer through the Equator to the Tropic of Capricorn and back to the Equator.
