[L] digestive system [information over pictures] [1c],

Here is a picture of where the different parts of the digestive system are situated in the body.
Here is a labelled diagram showing the names of the different parts of the digestive system and where they are.
The following pictures give you information about each part.
Your stomach is a muscular organ that digests food. When your stomach receives food it produces acids and enzymes that break down the food.
When your stomach has broken down the food, it passes into your small intestine.
The small intestine helps to further digest food coming from the stomach.
It absorbs nutrients (vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, proteins) and water from food so they can be used by the body.
The gallbladder is a storage pouch for bile, a liquid that aids digestion.

The liver continually makes bile, which is stored in the gallbladder until you start to eat.
Your pancreas creates natural juices called enzymes to break down foods.

These juices travel through your pancreas and empty into the upper part of your small intestine.
