Earth's atmosphere] [information over pictures] [2]
So the atmosphere is a thin layer of gases which surrounds the Earth.

It protects us it from harmful radiation from the Sun.

It also traps some of the light and heat in what is called the Greenhouse Effect.
The atmosphere is split into 5 layers.
Out from the Earth they are the

Troposphere
Stratosphere
Mesosphere
Thermosphere
Exosphere
In each layer you find different things.

Troposphere - planes and Ozone Layer.
Stratosphere - weather balloons.
Mesosphere - meteors.
Thermosphere - Northern Lights.
Exosphere - International Space Station.
You can remember these names in order by using a mnemonic [a silly sentence].
