  • Humberside with the city of Hull and the fishing port of Grimsby. Know for the birthplace of William Willberforce and Amy Johnson. Famous for Spurn point sand peninsula and bird sanctuary.
  • Northumberland, the most northern county of England. Bordered to the North by Scotland, to the west by the county of Cumbria and Durham to the south.
  • West Yorkshire with cities of Bradford and Leeds and towns like Halifax and Huddersfield. Famous for its textile mills and industrial museums. Saltaire the "model" Victorian village.
  • Tyne and Wear. A coastal county bordering to the east the North Sea, to the south Cleveland, to the west Durham and to the north Northumberland.
  • Durham is city. It has a cathedral and a University. It is also known for Beamish, a world famous open air museum which brings the history of North East England to life.
  • North Yorkshire bordered in the north by Durham and Cleveland, Lancashire and Cumbria to the west, West Yorkshire and Humberside to the south and the North Sea to the east.
  • Major town is Blyth. Famous landmarks are Hadrian's Wall built by the Romans to keep out the Scots and Bamburgh Castle built 1400 years ago by Anglo-Saxons. Used in scenes from Harry Potter.
  • Humberside bordered to the east by the North Sea, to the south by Lincolnshire, to the west by West Yorkshire and by North Yorkshire to the north.
  • The main towns are Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. Famous in the past for ship building, steel works and its iconic bridge. Brown ale and its distinctive "Geordie" accent.
  • Durham, bordered to the north by Northumberland, Cumbria to the west, North Yorkshire to the south and Tyne and Wear and Cleveland to the east.
  • North Yorkshire with city of York with Yorvik Viking Museum, the North York Moors Railway, Castle Howard historic mansion, the fishing port of Whitby and seaside attraction of Scarborough.
  • West Yorkshire bordered to the north by North Yorkshire, to the south by South Yorkshire, by Lancashire to the west and Humberide to the east.
